Tutor: How to install + play VN from this site

Asakura Ryoko... sign of ... eh... what?? :apa:

well... it looks like there's still some stupid/baka/newbie folks here...:bloon:
so I decided to make a tutor post...
so you can enjoy the content of this blog without any :???: (confusion)

till now, I made all of those post knowing the visitor is experienced with downloading VN and install them just fine... but some of the emails I got recently... tell me that they have problem with this and that... argh...:kaget:

so let's start with the basics...

first of all...

STARTING
change your regional setting to Japanese...:angel3:
as for me, I change all of them into japanese, coz there's some game which even check the time zone, formats, and the Location (win 7 preferences...)

but in Win XP you need some kind of files...
google it... (or try this one: Japanese XP pack)or just install jap-language from your WINDOWS XP CD... (use your original one please ^^)

how?
1. Download the "Japanese-Pack-XP.rar" above
2. Extract "Japanese-Pack-XP.rar" to a folder of your choosing (preferably desktop)
3. Go to Control Panel-->Regional and Language Options
4. Under the "Languages" tab tic the "Install files for East Asian Languages"
5. Click Apply, on the insert cd message click ok and the it'll give you the same error BUT with the option to choose where to load the files from
6. go to .../Japanese-Pack-XP/i386/Lang and load the only file that appears (only one appears because it asks for a specific file)
7. sit back and watch it install
8. it doesn't matter as long as you eventually restart, not log off/standby/hibernate.

sample of the un-changed language setting (you will see broken words...)

FIND YOUR GAME

next,
how to download from MediaFire(MF)... coz MF is our (crane) most used sharing site...

and you can find the VN's by using the LIST OF VN in CRANE

zzz... actually I don't even care how to explain this...:ehem:
but just click "Click here to download from Mediafire"
and start your download....
:yahoo:

or right-click it, copy link location, and put it into your IDM / DAP / something like that for better speed...

also, if you happen to cannot resume your download from mediafire, you also can use the second method, and copy it into your adress (at IDM, properties at the file)
right click at the "Click here to download from MediaFire", copy link location, and paste it to the space below (see red arrow)

so if you done with Downloading let's go to unrar-ing

EXTRACTING

this is how to extract with winRAR/7ZIP/winZIP/ (something like that)
first get the program ... (google it you moron...):ehem:

and then, right click and choose your method of extracting...

the split parts are automatically joined (winrar)
or see below:
Here's how to extract a file using winrar. After you've installed winrar just right click the desired rar-ed file... you should get this image.
20716-7NLK368.jpg

If it's on your desktop you can just press extract here or if you want it in a certain folder on your computer press extract files and select wherever it is you want it. Once all the files for a game have been downloaded you only need to extract part one. Winrar will automatically extract the rest of the parts.. example if you already have
gath.part1.rar
gath.part2.rar
gath.part3.rar
...

you just need to extract and filling passwords (if there's any) at the first part... just wait till it's done... and next we move to more complicated files...

if there's .001, .002, .003, ... / __.a, __.b, ___.c,... type of file or at least you see it like that...then you need to use FFSJ or HJsplit (google it please)

it's easy, just locate the first one and the prog will join all of them as long as they're in the same directory...
sample:
gath.rar.001
gath.rar.002
gath.rar.003
...

simple, just put them in the same folder and use Hjsplit/ffsj to join all of the parts...
the program automatically detect files with the same filename... so just sit back and relax...

or if you find
gath.7zip.001
gath.7zip.002
...

7zip have special features that can extract 001 files even without make it into "parts"
so use 7zip when you're told to...
ah..:kenyang:

there's some password at the file... (the one that I got from buz is not counted)
and maybe I'll not tell the password until you spread this site out loud / Donate ... Just kidding... I'll give them for sure... the password is needed coz if someone find the links from outside CraneAnime... they cannot extract it easily (well, there's a win rar password remover but the process is tiring and long)

First before asking me what's wrong with the passwords you should make sure you have put in the right password...
The passwords for rar files are very sensitive and even include the space as a symbol.

Now the proper way to highlight and copy and paste the password into the password confirmation screen when you try to extract it...

hahaha...
and one moAR IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT EXTRACTING...
:onion-86:

if you happen to find some corrupted file, please try to repair it first (open the corrupt files, ALT+R)
:hmm:
and repair all of the broken part ... easy... just replace the old one with the fixed one
delete the old .rar and rename the .fixed.rar into .rar

MOUNTING

after you extract it,
maybe / mostly you'll find ISO files... (or image files... ah.. whatever) if it's not, skip through installation
mount them with Daemon Tools (recommended, coz I never failed using this prog)
again, search it with g00gle...
why? coz I don't want to share any free download here... the VN's already make me :aghh:
so let just pass the Download links of the programs...

after you install daemon... open the file... or
use the most easiest way...
by using the notification (bottom-right, windows 7)

choose your ISO file and mount them...
the setup should be automatically running... if not, just browse "My Computer" and find it at the CD drive...:malu1:

and btw the tutor below is old...
please use other reference to find newer version

Daemon Tools Tutorial from fkku

Introduction:

Daemon Tools is a disk image emulator and optical disc authoring program for Microsoft Windows. A disk image emulator is computer software designed to mount a disk image, usually of a CD or DVD, from a local hard drive or USB flash drive. The mounting is usually done by creating a virtual drive on the system, that to the operating system looks like an ordinary disk drive, in other words disc reading hardware is substituted with disc images.

(Yes, I took that description from Wikipedia. Sue me)

Daemon Tools is use to run games so you need to have the application open as long as you're playing the game.

These are some of the file types supported by Daemon Tools:

- cue (CDRWIN)
- bin
- iso
- ccd (CloneCD file)
- mds (Media Descriptor File)
- cdi (Discjuggler file)
- nrg (Nero file)

There's probably more types out there but those are usually the common ones.

Part 1, Installing Daemon Tools:

- Download Daemon Tools. You can get the latest version from that link.
- Open the .exe file
- Follow the instructions and install the application.
- Make sure you uncheck anything you don't want. People always forget to do that for some reason.
- Start Daemon Tools. A red lightning bolt will appear in the system tray near the clock. This is what you use to work with Daemon Tools.

step1.jpg

Part 2, Mounting an image file:

Make sure you're trying to install an Image File. If you don't know the type, you can find out by right clicking the file and checking the properties.

I'm gonna use Discipline as an example because I really love that game. (Plug brought to you by Azuran)

imagefiles.jpg

- Right click the Daemon Tools icon
- Select Virtual CD/DVD-ROM
- Select Set numbers of devices...
- Choose and click 1 drive

step3.jpg

- Select Device 0: [Drive] No media
- Select and click Mount image

step5.jpg

- The open file window will appear. Find the file your trying to mount and click open

step6.jpg

- The startup screen will appear. If it doesn't, go to My Computer and open the virtual CD manually.
- Install the game and enjoy.

INSTALLATION

After you mount the ISO file, usually you can click autoplay, autorun, or smthg like that...
Most of the installation is easy and just do "next-next-next finish"
but if you notice that some of the jap-words is still understandable, e.q: Create a desktop shortcut / whatever...

and if I give you links to crack, no dvd /cd, no region, just put it into the game folder and execute/extract it... any problem can be asked on the prespective post... just don't ask it anywhere...

PLAY JAPANESE VN IN ENGRISH
yes engrish, it's not english

and now, how to play...
if it's english, I think you'll be fine on your own...
but when it's Jap??:zzzz:

use AGTH... (Anime Game Text Hooker) or ITH... for hooking the texts in VN's

and one more thing, you need to install ATLAS Fujitsu v14 here's the trial: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/services/software/translation/atlas/downloads/trial.html

These two cracks needs to be placed in the same folder you install the program:

you need only two things basically... but if you are the type who don't want to work hard, just download three programs...
first AGTH (Critical, listed above), Translation Aggregator (critical one... can use Google translate and other site translator... mentioned above)...
and if you just like me, who is playing while downloading...
just use ATLAS...
the tutorial of using them and some of the /h or hook code is listed :cerutu:

HERE

yah... probably you don't really care with "how's" and "why's":sigh:
so just skip how to section and go straight to the /h code list...
don't be afraid, my post is also have the /h code listed...
if it's not, then the game didn't need any ...:yareyare:

about SAVEDATA

if you really a fag and some stupid folks see this section when downloading the savefiles given from CraneAnime...

-If it's in a RAR file, extract it first.
-confirm the format.
-find the save file folders
-Copy paste the 100% into the save file folder
-In other words overwrite the same file, with the 100% file.

Some exception with games
-that have a separated save folder (Not in the same game folder)
-some save files has a special format that needs to be hacked a little bit (rare)
-some files are in the Windows folder (rare)

ETC

ah... one moar engine is devOSD...
which I already taught you before ... (it's not critical... but it's needed for great gaming experience... )
see this POST

UNDERSTOOD??? :hipno:

if you understand then I think you need this: :lulus:
if not... then you deserve... :bata:

or if you need moar... see this blog:
How to Play Japanese game in English
(he's Indonesian too... just like us... LOL!!!... I don't want to copassing things... so just go there...)

ah... I think this is enough for now...
maybe I'll edit this post later...
so for now.. farewell....:hmm:
