Plot
Ayumu Aikawa is a zombie resurrected by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe after being killed by a serial killer. Characters
Protagonists
Ayumu Aikawa (相川 歩, Aikawa Ayumu?)
Voiced by: Takuma Terashima (drama CD), Junji Majima (anime)
Ayumu is a high school boy who was killed by a serial killer and resurrected as a zombie by the necromancer, Eucliwood Hellscythe. As a zombie, he is invincible and can exceed the limits of the human body, giving him great physical strength. However, he still feels pain (but gets over it very quickly) and will also dry out in the sunlight. His body is also weak against fire and tends to break down if used to its utmost limit. There are also various aspects of his zombie nature that Ayumu has yet to discover, such as the ability to absorb magic. As a result of absorbing Haruna's magic, Ayumu is forced to become a Masō-Shōjo, pink frilly outfit and all, in order to fight Megalos. Throughout his encounters, it is shown that he is rather a unique zombie, which is possible due to the powerful magic Eucliwood used to revive him. In the manga, it is shown that Ayumu can kill Megalos with his zombie powers without becoming a Masō-Shōjo himself. He also cannot feel any pain, and when he absorbed Haruna's magic it prevented her from using/touching Mystletainn.
Haruna (ハルナ?)
Voiced by: Kaoru Mizuhara (drama CD), Iori Nomizu (anime)
Haruna is a Masō-Shōjo (魔装少女?, lit. magically ornamented girl, a pun on "mahō shōjo") from a magical world who wields a chainsaw named Mystletainn (ミストルティン, Misutorutein?) and battles demons known as Megalos. She can also use her magic to repair damage caused from her battles and erase people's memories. She was originally ordered by her teacher, Dai-sensei, to go to Kyoto to get some tofu, but she ended up in Tokyo instead. After first encountering Ayumu following a fight with a demon, her magical powers are absorbed by him, due to the fact the magic Eucliwood used to revive him is stronger than hers. As she tries to figure out this situation, she appoints Ayumu to fight the Megalos in her place as a Masō-Shōjo and starts living with him. She is a good cook, though is usually limited to just making fried eggs. Despite being a self-proclaimed genius, she has trouble remembering people's names or important details of assignments, since she only remembers what she deems interesting and forgets everything else. Ayumu's name is an exception to this, suggesting that she cares about him. She appears to have some feelings for Ayumu, showing jealousy when he is close with Yuki and having a dream of kissing Ayumu. She's jealous of Mael for her relationship with Ayumu, even asking him to kiss her.
Eucliwood Hellscythe (ユークリウッド・ヘルサイズ, Yūkuriuddo Herusaizu?)
Voiced by: Yukari Tamura (drama CD), Midori Tsukimiya (anime, main), Kotono Mitsuishi, Mika Kanai, Tomoko Kaneda, Yūko Minaguchi, Satomi Kōrogi, Tange Sakura, Yuki Matsuoka, Noriko Hidaka (anime, daydream) *
Eucliwood, called Eu (ユー, Yū?) for short, is a necromancer who brought Ayumu back to life to be her guard and has been living with him since. Her magic is so powerful that she has to wear heavy armor and suppress her emotions in order to control it. Her words also carry strong magic, and she is able to kill someone just by saying "Die", so she avoids talking and instead communicates through written notes, mostly pertaining to her appetite. She experiences severe pain whenever her magic is activated, and she claims that even if she were to die her magic would continue uncontrolled. She is also capable of becoming a Masō-Shōjo. It is shown that she does care about Ayumu even though she considers him to be her servant, therefore she may have feelings for Ayumu, but cannot express them currently. She does not like people talking about death or telling them to go die since, as she takes on the pain of anyone she heals, revives or kills, she understands the pain of dying despite being immortal herself. In the anime, Ayumu often daydreams about her behaving like a visual novel character and speaking in a cutesy manner (voiced by a different voice actor in each episode of the anime). In episode 11 of the anime adaptation, she spoke to Ayumu for the first time, indicating that she has gained some control over her magic. How or what she did to control it is a mystery.
Seraphim (セラフィム, Serafimu?)
Voiced by: Shizuka Itō (drama CD), Yōko Hikasa (anime)
Seraphim, "Sera" for short, is a well-endowed vampire ninja (吸血忍者, kyūketsu-ninja?)(秘剣 燕返し, Hiken Tsubamegaeshi?) and ninja reflexes with her vampire powers to fight her enemies. She is able to form a pair of bat wings and a katana out of several leaves. As a vampire, she periodically requires blood to stay alive, and can anesthetize people with a kiss in order to numb the pain from neck bites. She does this with other girls, since kissing a boy would symbolize marriage in her cult's rules. She comes to Ayumu's house to serve Eucliwood, though when rejected, she ends up being Ayumu's servant in hopes she can change her mind. She is rather cold towards Ayumu, constantly calling him a "piece of shit" (クソ虫, kuso mushi?, lit. "dung beetle"), though has a healthy respect for his combat abilities. who combines her Tsubamegaeshi sword technique
Mael Strom (メイル・シュトローム, Meiru Shutorōmu?) / Yuki Yoshida (吉田 友紀, Yoshida Yuki?)
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (drama CD), Hisako Kanemoto (anime)
A vampire ninja from a different faction from Seraphim's who is also a student in Ayumu's high school, where she is known as Yuki Yoshida. Because of how this name is written, she is often nicknamed "Tomonori" (トモノリ?). She is able to use tonkotsuore' when talking about herself. Towards the ending in the anime, she shows to have strong feelings for Ayumu. ramen soup to instantly defeat Megalos, though the explanation behind it is too advanced for even her to understand, and has a machine which sprays said soup over the city whenever a horde of Megalos attack. However, in the anime, the machine has failed, and thus the project was given up. As a result of accidentally kissing Ayumu when he was pushed by Haruna, they are technically declared married by her faction's customs, and she constantly acts like a wife while at school. She is rather tomboyish, speaking with the term '
