Former Chrysler CEO Nardelli Says Cerberus Could Have Saved the Automaker

Chrysler Slows Down Production Due to a Lack of Carpets

A lack of carpets after one of Chrysler’s suppliers on the East Coast was hit by the tropical storm Lee has forced the automaker to slow down production and cancel shifts this week at three of its plants.

The carpeting shortage has hampered production at the Sterling Heights Assembly in Michigan, Toledo North in Ohio and Brampton Assembly in Ontario.

Dodge's ultimate muscle car, Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X has officially entered production last month. The official debut of this incredible machine from Dodge will be in July 2010.

The suspension of Viper SRT10 ACR-x has also been tuned and upgraded specifically for on-track usage. In addition to aerodynamic upgrades which improve downforce, the weight has been reduced by 160 pounds. 2009 Dodge Challenger Engine specifications

The 2009 Dodge Challenger offers a choice of three engines and three transmissions. The base SE model has a 3.5-liter single-overhead cam V-6 engine that makes 250 hp at 6400 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque at 3800 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Challenger R/T model uses an updated version of Dodge’s 5.7-liter overhead-valve Hemi V-8 engine. When teamed with the standard 5-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick manual shiftgate, that engine produces 372 hp at 5200 rpm and 401 lb.-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm. When paired with a new optional 6-speed manual transmission, horsepower increases to 376 at 5150 rpm and torque rises to 410 lb.-ft. at 4300 rpm.

The Challenger SRT8 uses Dodge’s 6.1-liter version of the Hemi V-8 engine. It cranks out 425 hp at 6200 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. Dodge says the 5.7-liter V-8 engine will propel the Challenger from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, while the 6.1-liter V-8 engine cuts that time to 4.9 seconds.
